Our Story

In August 2023, Nigeria was shaken by the loss of Dr. Vwaere Diaso, a young doctor whose life was cut short when a hospital elevator malfunctioned. She survived the fall, but not the hours that followed. When rescue finally came, there was no blood available for the transfusion she desperately needed. Her death broke hearts across the nation. A doctor, someone who had sworn to save others, died waiting for help that should have been within reach. Her story became more than a tragedy; it became a mirror reflecting a system unprepared for emergencies and a country still struggling to make blood available when lives depend on it. At BloodLines, we carry that moment as a reminder of why we must act. Because behind every statistic is someone’s daughter, friend, or colleague. Because no one should die waiting for blood. That’s why we’re building BloodLines: a community, a system, and a culture that ensures blood is always there when someone needs it, freely, safely, and quickly.

We are not just collecting blood.
We are connecting lives with lifesavers.

Our Vision

“An Africa where blood is always available, because giving has become a way of life.”

We envision an Africa where no one dies waiting for blood because the simple act of giving has become a shared rhythm of compassion, a culture that connects one life to another.

In this Africa, hospitals are never short on supply. Mothers in labour receive the blood they need without fear. Children with sickle cell disease get their transfusions on schedule. Accident victims are treated immediately, not because they are lucky, but because the system works and because people care.

Our vision imagines an Africa where compassion is organized, where giving blood is as normal as showing up for a brother, posting a tweet, or attending an owambe. A continent where citizens see themselves not as passive bystanders in emergencies, but as lifesavers-in-waiting, always ready to give.

Meet Our Team.

Every year, millions of people in Nigeria need blood — mothers giving birth, children with sickle cell disease, accident victims, and countless others.
